VAC is an anti-cheat software developed by Valve and stands for Valve Anti-Cheat.
VAC scans for active processes and looks for known detected cheat signatures. It will also monitor user behavior ingame. When any cheat is found it will ban the user pernamently. VAC can be easily bypassed with frequent cheat signature changes. There are tools like PolyLoader that randomize the cheat source code so it stays undetected for a bigger amount of time.
