Super User is a way to acknowledge a former Global Moderator or Administrator's service to the site. They no longer hold any power similar to Former Staff.
Trivia
The Super User group wasn't always for retired Global Moderators. It was actually a special group like Trusted Member where you could only get in if Dave84311 let you in.
