General Information

Call of Duty, also known as COD, is an FPS (first-person shooter) game that can be played on Windows and other consoles, including PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U. It is owned by Activision, and game developers such as Infinity Ward, Treyarch, and Sledgehammer Games have taken turns over these years developing each release.

COD was first released in 2003 simply as Call of Duty. Since then, it has become an immensely popular game, with new versions releasing every couple years. Initially, the game was set in World War II, but eventually the games released became set in modern time. In total, there have been currently fifteen official games that were released, and the game has sold over 250 million copies and grossed over fifteen billion USD.

Different Games

Call of Duty 1

This was the original game, released in 2003. It was developed by Infinity War, and it was set in WWII, following Allied paratroopers into the heart of the battle.

Call of Duty 2

This was the sequel to Call of Duty, and the game plot is essentially a continuation of the first game. This was released in 2005, and developed by Infinity Ward.

Call of Duty 3

This game is still another WWII FPS game, and it was developed by Treyarch and released in 2006. This was the first game to also be released on other platforms, including PS2, PS3, Wii, XBox, and the Xbox 360. This game is still set in WWII, but now also follows the Canadians, Polish, and the French armies after D-Day.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare

This is the first game to be set in the modern era, and it was the first to receive a M rating from ESRB. It was released in 2007 and developed by Infinity Ward.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2

This game was another one to be set in the modern era and is the sequel to COD: Modern Warfare. It was released in 2009 and developed by Infinity Ward.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

This is the sequel to COD: Modern Warfare 2, and since there was an executive disagreement between Activision and Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games became the company to develop this game. It was released in 2011.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered

This game is a recent release of COD that continued the storyline of the COD: MW timeline. It was developed by Raven Software and produced by Infinity War. It was released in November 2016.

Call of Duty: World at War

This game was set in WWII and uses the same game engine as COD: 4 (aka COD: MW). It was released in 2008, and it was developed by Treyarch.

Call of Duty: Black Ops

This game was set in the Vietnam War era, and it was developed by Treyarch and released in November 2010.

Call of Duty: Black Ops II

This game was the sequel to COD: Black Ops, and it is the first time future warfare technology was added to the game. It also allowed for multiple storylines based on the player's choices, and it was developed by Treyarch and released in November 2012.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III

This game is the current last game in the COD: Black Ops series, and it was developed by Treyarch and released in November 2015.

Call of Duty: Ghosts

This game is on its own unique storyline, with no other sequels for it so far. It was developed by Infinity Ward, Neversoft, and Raven Software. It was released in November 2013.

Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare

This game is on its own unique storyline, with no other sequels for it so far. It was developed by Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software, and High Moon Studios. It was released in November 2014.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare

This game is on its own unique storyline, with no other sequels for it so far. It was developed by Infinity Ward. It was released in November 2016.

Call of Duty: WWII

This is a recently released game that went back to the WWII era. It's focused on the 1st Infantry Division and their movements on the Western Front. It was developed by Sledgehammer Games, and released in November of 2017.

Trivia

Game Engine

Call of duty 1 through 14 are all based off of the same game engine, Quake 3 Arena (Q3A). Q3A was developed back in 1999 by id Software. Since 1999 id Software have made the source code to Q3A publicly available which can be found here.

Introduction to Cheating

Injection

"Injection" hacks usually refer to DLL hacks, where the hack injects a dynamic link library file into the game for tools such as aim-bot.

Different type of bans

Valve Anti-Cheat

Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) is an Anti-Cheat developed by valve to prevent cheaters.

Game Ban

This ban type can only be handed out manually.

Treyarch Anti-Cheat

Treyarch Anti-Cheat, also known as TAC, is an Anti-Cheat created by Treyarch and was first introduced to Black Ops 2. It has been in every Treyarch developed COD since Black Ops 2.

MPGH Hacks for COD

Hydra’s Revised Orbital Vsat

This hack was an update to Hydra's previous hack, and it is designed to confuse VAC, although VAC can still detect memory changes from this. It also has a total of three features: Orbital Vsat, Redacted Mode, and Interval Timer. All of these elevate the user's gameplay so they can have a better edge in winning the match.
